Anthropic launches /design skill for Claude Code
Anthropic has released a new research preview skill for Claude Code called “/design skill,” which integrates Claude Design’s artboard workflow directly into the Command Line Interface (CLI) and Desktop applications. This update allows developers to generate multiple UI design proposals as artifacts within a Claude Code session. Users can select and refine a design before instructing Claude Code to implement it, effectively bridging the gap between design and development without switching to a web browser.
The feature is available to users on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. It utilizes the Claude Opus 4.7 vision model to facilitate the creation of editable artboards.
Technical documentation also notes that for developers managing Claude Code plugins, updates may fail to reflect if the version in the plugin.json file is not incremented. Because the system caches plugins in directories named after their version number, the system will report that it is “already at the latest version” if the version number remains unchanged, even if new code has been pushed to the source.
