Anthropic predicts AI could boost U.S. GDP to $44 trillion by 2030

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark has presented internal modeling suggesting that artificial intelligence could significantly expand the United States economy by 2030. Speaking at the annual International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings in Bangkok, Clark outlined three potential economic scenarios for the U.S. GDP, measured in constant 2025 dollars:

• Modest scenario: $34.1 trillion (1.6% growth) • Substantial scenario: $36.3 trillion (8.3% growth) • Extreme scenario: $44.4 trillion (32.4% growth)

While Clark acknowledged that a $14 trillion increase in output “seems very outlandish,” he noted that such growth would be possible if AI continues to accelerate scientific innovation and technological capabilities.

Alongside these economic projections, Clark and other Anthropic leadership have called for urgent international cooperation regarding AI regulation. The company has urged policymakers to establish “unusual and serious rules” to ensure safety protocols keep pace with the rapid advancement of the technology.
