Anthropic predicts AI could boost US GDP to $44.4 trillion by 2030

Anthropic has released an economic analysis projecting that widespread artificial intelligence adoption could significantly boost the United States GDP, potentially reaching $44.4 trillion by 2030. The report outlines various scenarios based on the speed of AI deployment and automation capabilities.

In an extreme scenario, AI could drive annual GDP growth as high as 15%, causing the economy to double approximately every five years. However, this growth is expected to come with significant labor market disruptions. The model predicts that white-collar workers, including software developers, engineers, and accountants, could face automation and wage decreases of over 10%.

Furthermore, the report warns of widening income inequality. As automation scales, wealth may shift from labor toward capital owners. In the most radical projections, the share of income for labor could fall to 45.2%, while the share for capital could rise to 54.8%, potentially leading to an unemployment rate of 12%.
