Anthropic prepares for potential $2 trillion IPO and reveals executive pay

Anthropic is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) that could potentially value the company at over $2 trillion. Reports suggest the company may begin marketing the offering as early as the week of November 9, with the possibility of trading before Thanksgiving. To maintain strategic direction, the company plans to use a special class of shares that would allow co-founders Dario Amodei and six others to control 50.1% of the votes on key decisions.

Recent IPO filings reveal significant executive compensation. CEO Dario Amodei earned approximately $18 million in total compensation last year, while President Daniela Amodei received roughly $16.4 million. Both siblings saw their annual base salaries double to $1.4 million in July. Much of their compensation is tied to equity and stock options. Additionally, CFO Krishna Rao earned $720,250 last year. The Amodei siblings have pledged 80% of their personal Anthropic equity to charitable causes.

In a separate move to support the ecosystem, Anthropic has expanded its Claude Startups program. Eligible companies, including bootstrapped and venture-backed startups founded within the last five years, can receive a free year of Claude Team and $1,000 in API credits.
