Anthropic prepares for major IPO amid rapid product development
Anthropic is preparing for a potentially record-breaking initial public offering (IPO) following a private valuation of $965 billion. Financial projections suggest the AI laboratory could reach revenues between $190 billion and $200 billion by 2028. Despite this growth, market participants have expressed caution, with some skepticism regarding the final market capitalization at the time of the IPO.
To drive product innovation ahead of its public debut, Anthropic utilizes a specialized internal group known as Labs. Led by cofounder Ben Mann, this rotating team of approximately 20 employees functions as a startup incubator, tasked with rapidly prototyping new ideas. The team has been responsible for significant releases, including Claude Code, the Model Context Protocol, and Claude Design. Mann noted that the team operates with an expected failure rate, with successful projects seeing a 20% to 30% success rate.
