Anthropic prepares for potential $2 trillion IPO amid revenue growth shifts

Anthropic is preparing for a major initial public offering (IPO) expected as early as November, with potential valuations ranging between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion. While the company reported $16.8 billion in revenue for the third quarter of 2026, investors have noted a slowdown in growth compared to the 147% expansion seen between the first and second quarters.

To address societal concerns, Anthropic announced plans to allocate 5% of its shares to a new Public Benefit Fund, subject to shareholder approval. This fund, structured as a limited liability company, aims to support nonprofit organizations and initiatives addressing AI's impact on the labor market. The stake could increase by an additional 2% for every 50% increase in company valuation above an undisclosed baseline.

Financially, Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) has assigned Anthropic a BB+ issuer credit rating with a stable outlook. This rating follows a $35 billion chip-financing deal involving Apollo Global Management and Broadcom. Additionally, co-founder Jack Clark suggested that AI could potentially increase US GDP to $44 trillion by 2030, though he acknowledged the projection may seem unrealistic.
