Anthropic releases Claude Sonnet 5.5 AI model
Anthropic has released Claude Sonnet 5.5, the second model in its Claude 5.5 family. The new model is designed for daily professional tasks such as programming, document drafting, and spreadsheet management. According to Anthropic, Sonnet 5.5 is more than 30% faster and up to 30% less expensive for most tasks compared to its predecessor, Sonnet 5.
In technical benchmarks, the model has shown performance approaching that of the more complex Opus 5.5, specifically in coding tasks. The model is available across major cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
Developers using the Kiro IDE and CLI can now access Claude Sonnet 5.5 as an experimental preview. In the Kiro environment, the model maintains the same credit multiplier as Sonnet 5 (1.3x) and features a 1M context window.
