Anthropic releases official Claude Code desktop app for Linux

Anthropic has launched a beta version of Claude Desktop for Linux, making the AI‑assisted coding and chat tool available natively on Ubuntu 22.04 or later and Debian 12 or later, for both x86_64 and arm64 architectures. The application bundles chat, cowork, code, parallel workspaces, visual diff, an integrated terminal, editor and live preview, mirroring the functionality of the Windows and macOS versions.

Installation is performed through an APT repository with a few commands to add the key, register the source, update the package list and install the "claude-desktop" package. Official support is limited to Debian‑based distributions; features such as Computer Use, voice dictation and Wayland shortcuts are still pending, and broader distro support is expected in coming months.
