Anthropic reports Claude AI is driving 26% of its research and development
Anthropic has revealed that its Claude AI model is actively participating in the development of its own successor. The company reported that Claude currently leads 26% of its research and development efforts and is integrated into approximately 90% of the organization’s operational tasks, working alongside human employees.
This capability toward recursive self-improvement has prompted Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei to call for a slower pace of AI innovation. Amodei cited concerns regarding potential mass unemployment, ecological damage from high energy demands, and the difficulty humans may face in controlling systems that accelerate their own evolution.
In a separate technical update, Anthropic overhauled Projects in Claude Code. This feature allows multiple AI agents to work in parallel on different components of a single software product, utilizing a central coordinator and shared project memory to manage complex engineering tasks.
