Anthropic surveys users and launches Claude Tag in Slack

Anthropic released two major updates concerning its Claude AI system. A multilingual interview of 80,508 Claude users across 159 countries explored what people want from AI, highlighting desires for time savings, autonomy and productivity while noting European users’ greater concern about privacy and regulatory control. In a separate poll of about 9,700 Claude users, roughly half said the model already handles more than half of their work tasks—33 % report 30‑60 % coverage, 14 % report 60‑90 % coverage and 4 % say Claude could perform all their work. The most common applications are marketing copy, blog or article writing and database queries. Respondents expect AI to take on even more of their workload over the next year, but the majority prefer collaboration rather than replacement.

Anthropic also introduced Claude Tag, a new feature that embeds Claude directly into Slack as a persistent, multiplayer AI teammate. Users can tag @Claude in any channel to assign tasks; the model retains context across conversations, can read and act on connected tools, and operates under admin‑defined access and spending limits. The feature is in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers and is positioned as an “always‑on” AI colleague for enterprise workflows. Analysts note the privacy implications of granting an AI access to internal Slack channels, especially under regulations such as South Africa’s POPIA.
