Anthropic secures $15 billion financing for Texas AI data center, Google backs
Data‑center developer Nexus Data Centers is in advanced talks to raise financing for a new AI data‑center campus in Hubbard, Texas, built for Anthropic. According to a Wall Street Journal report, banks led by Morgan Stanley are discussing a $15 billion package that includes a $14 billion bridge loan and a revolving credit facility, alongside a 1.6‑gigawatt natural‑gas power plant on site. Alphabet’s Google will provide financing guarantees covering Anthropic’s lease and power‑payment obligations and will supply its Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chips, in a deal that gives Google an estimated 20 % equity stake in the data‑center and power project. The financing arrangement reflects growing investment in AI infrastructure in the United States.
