Anthropic seeks $10 billion credit facility ahead of IPO

AI company Anthropic is reportedly seeking to expand its revolving credit facility to approximately $10 billion ahead of a planned initial public offering (IPO). This proposed increase is a significant jump from the $2.5 billion five-year credit facility the company secured last year.

Major banks are competing to participate in the credit arrangement, as involvement is seen as a strategic way to secure roles as underwriters for Anthropic's upcoming IPO. The facility is structured with tiered commitments: lead banks are being asked for roughly $1.25 billion each, while second-tier participants may be tapped for $1 billion, and smaller players for $750 million or less.

In addition to the IPO-related credit line, banks led by Morgan Stanley are discussing $15 billion in debt financing for an Anthropic data center project in Texas. This infrastructure project is supported by Alphabet's Google and involves Nexus Data Centers.

Anthropic's financial momentum is underscored by a reported revenue run rate that has reached $65 billion. The company has already filed a confidential S-1 with the SEC, signaling its progress toward going public.
