Anthropic signs $35 billion computing deal with Lambda

Anthropic has entered into a $35 billion agreement with Lambda to secure massive computing resources for developing advanced artificial intelligence models. This strategic partnership provides Anthropic with access to cloud computing capacity, including a data center located in Texas equipped with Nvidia H100 and H200 chips.

As part of this arrangement, some of the computing power will be deployed at the Beacon Point campus in Nueces County, Texas, which is operated by Bitcoin miner Hut 8. The Beacon Point site is part of two 15-year leases valued at $19.6 billion, providing a total IT capacity of 704MW. This deal highlights a growing trend where cryptocurrency mining firms are pivoting toward providing high-performance computing (HPC) and AI infrastructure to meet the intense electricity and hardware demands of AI developers.
