Anthropic targets record-breaking IPO to rival SpaceX

Anthropic is preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO) that could rival or exceed the record-breaking $75 billion raised by SpaceX. The Claude developer may file public documents as early as the end of August.

The company has seen rapid valuation growth, reaching a $965 billion post-money valuation following a $65 billion Series H funding round in May. This valuation surpasses the $852 billion valuation reported for OpenAI during its March funding round.

Financial performance shows significant revenue growth, with preliminary second-quarter revenue exceeding $11.5 billion, a substantial increase from $787 million during the same period last year. However, the company faces high operational costs associated with AI model development. While adjusted operating income turned positive in the second quarter, projected net losses for 2025 are estimated to reach approximately $42 billion due to massive investments in data centers and computing resources.
