Anthropic updates Claude with unified memory and standalone browser

Anthropic has introduced significant updates to its Claude AI ecosystem, focusing on memory unification and autonomous web navigation. A major update allows Claude to share memory between its standard chat interface and Claude Cowork, an agent designed for automating routine tasks. This unification ensures that context and project details learned in one session carry over to the other, reducing the need for users to repeat information. Users can now view, edit, or delete these stored memories by topic, though sensitive information like health or religious data remains excluded from memory by default.

Additionally, Anthropic is expanding web capabilities. Claude Cowork now features an integrated, standalone browser within its desktop application. This native browser operates independently of a user’s personal browser (such as Chrome or Edge), meaning it does not access personal tabs, bookmarks, or saved passwords. This provides a more secure environment for tasks like research or data retrieval. Furthermore, the Claude Chrome extension is now available to all paid users, including Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, allowing the assistant to perform actions directly within existing web sessions.
