Anthropic's Claude Tag AI assistant launches in Slack for enterprise users

Anthropic has introduced Claude Tag, an AI agent that joins Slack channels as a shared team member. The feature, released in beta on June 23 2026, is available to Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers through the AWS Marketplace and directly within Slack. Users summon the assistant by tagging @Claude, which then reads channel context, remembers relevant information, breaks larger assignments into subtasks, plans work and can act autonomously in an “ambient” mode. Administrators control per‑channel permissions, limiting the assistant’s access to specific tools, data sources or codebases, and can set spend limits and audit logs. Claude Tag replaces the earlier Claude‑in‑Slack integration and supports a multiplayer workflow where any teammate can continue a task without restarting a new conversation. Anthropic notes that internal use of Claude Tag already generated about 65 % of the code written by its product team. The rollout positions Anthropic to compete in the enterprise‑AI market by embedding a persistent, context‑aware assistant directly into the workplace platform where employees already collaborate.
