Anthropic's Claude AI Services Experience Global Outage on June 23
Anthropic reported a widespread disruption of its Claude AI platforms on 23 June at 14:19 UTC. The outage affected most Claude services—including Claude.ai, the API, Console, Claude Code and Claude Cowork—causing a high error rate and failed queries, while Claude for Government remained operational.
The technical team identified the cause within minutes and deployed a fix by 14:53 UTC. After the patch, services entered a monitoring phase, and Anthropic continued to watch for residual issues. The incident follows a series of recent technical problems for the company in June, including previous errors on 16 June and 22 June affecting Opus and Sonnet models.
Although the disruption lasted less than an hour, it impacted users and businesses that rely on Claude for customer‑facing applications, highlighting the challenges of maintaining stability for large‑scale AI services.
