Anti-Corruption Authority clarifies scope of Black Van investigation

The Independent Authority against Corruption has issued a clarifying statement regarding its investigation into the ‘Black Van’ case, specifically addressing the involvement of the Assistant Attorney General.

The Authority responded to previous statements made by the Attorney General, asserting that the intention to include the Assistant Attorney General in the investigation was known to the Legal Service. According to the Authority, a letter was sent to the Attorney General on July 16, 2026, outlining its general intentions to expand the scope of the probe to all aspects of the case.

A meeting took place on July 29, 2026, at the offices of the Legal Service to clarify the exact scope of the proposed investigation. Attendees included the Attorney General, the Assistant Attorney General, a prosecutor, and a senior lawyer representing the Legal Service, alongside representatives from the Authority. The Authority noted that once it became clear the Assistant Attorney General was within the scope of the investigation, he chose to leave the meeting.
