Anti-Corruption Bureau raids official's residence in West Bengal corruption probe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a raid on the Jhargram residence of Thakurdas Baske, an inspector with the West Bengal Food and Supplies Department, as part of a corruption investigation.

The probe involves seven officials from the department. While six of the accused reportedly appeared before the ACB, Baske failed to do so and is currently considered to be absconding. Investigators searched Baske’s home in Nripenpalli, where his wife was questioned, though it remains unclear if any incriminating documents or materials were recovered.

Police stated that the investigation is focused on Baske’s specific role in the alleged corruption and determining if other individuals are involved. The operation follows a stated zero-tolerance policy regarding unethical activities by the state government.
