Anti-Corruption Commission orders journalists to declare assets
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered journalists Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa to submit detailed statements of their assets following allegations of possessing wealth beyond their known sources of income.
Because both individuals are currently detained in separate legal cases, the ACC has decided to deliver the official notices and asset declaration forms through the respective prison authorities. Shakil Ahmed is being held at the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, while Farzana Rupa is detained at the Munshiganj District Jail.
The investigation requires the couple to disclose all movable and immovable properties held in their own names, as well as those held by spouses or dependents, whether under their own names or through proxies. They must also provide details regarding their liabilities, sources of income, and how these assets were acquired. Failure to comply or providing false information may result in legal action under the ACC Act, 2004.
