Anti-inflammatory diet may reduce dementia risk by 29 percent
Research suggests that an anti-inflammatory diet can significantly impact brain longevity and reduce the risk of dementia by up to 29 percent. According to nutritionist Dr. Bartosz Kulczyński, a lecturer at the Poznan University of Life Sciences, dietary choices play a critical role in protecting nerve cells from premature aging and supporting memory and concentration.
Specific fruits are highlighted for their neuroprotective properties. Blueberries and forest berries are noted for their high anthocyanin content, which helps reduce oxidative stress. Other beneficial options include blackcurrants, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, citrus fruits, and pomegranates. These foods provide essential vitamins, fiber, potassium, and polyphenols that support vascular health and help manage blood pressure and sugar levels, indirectly benefiting cognitive function.
