Antigone production continues successful Greek tour

The production of Sophocles’ tragedy ‘Antigone’, directed by Themis Moumoulidis, is continuing its successful second year-long tour across Greece. The production has already reached over 75,000 spectators.

Upcoming performances include a show at the Melina Open Air Theatre in Volos on August 31 and a performance at the Alcazar Garden Theatre in Larissa on September 2. The tour is scheduled to conclude on September 9 at the Lycabettus Theatre.

The cast is led by Lena Papaligoura in the title role, featuring Meletis Elias as Creon and Michalis Oikonomou as the guard. This modern adaptation explores themes of freedom, justice, and individual responsibility against authority, set against a contemporary backdrop of modern decision-making centers and global humanitarian issues.
