Antigua and Barbuda Carnival 2026 Concludes Peacefully, Police Report No Major Violence
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda announced that the 2026 Carnival celebrations ended without major incidents of violence or serious injuries. Police attributed the safe outcome to the cooperation of the public and the effective security measures implemented during key events such as J’Ouvert and the Last Lap. A small number of revellers were arrested for possessing prohibited weapons, but the overwhelming majority complied with safety advisories.
Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers praised the professionalism of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, stating, “I am particularly pleased with the level of professionalism, discipline, and dedication demonstrated by the officers and soldiers of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force.” He also thanked the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission for its partnership in ensuring a secure environment for residents, visitors, and businesses.
