Antigua and Barbuda conducts emergency drills ahead of CHOGM
Antigua and Barbuda is conducting a series of emergency response exercises to prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
On October 22, emergency teams will perform a mass casualty simulation involving a vehicle crash at Scotts Hill. The exercise, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., aims to test the response capabilities of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre and the coordination between police, firefighters, clinics, and the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).
Following this, an evacuation drill is scheduled for October 27 at the Performing Arts Centre in St. John’s. This venue is designated for the CHOGM opening ceremony. The drills are part of a broader effort by NODS to work with hotels and event venues to strengthen emergency protocols for the high-level international gathering.
