Antigua and Barbuda experience heavy rain and lightning as tropical wave moves through

Heavy rain, frequent lightning and thunderstorms swept across Antigua and Barbuda on Sunday as a tropical wave passed through the islands. Residents in several communities reported intense downpours and flashes of lightning.

Authorities warned the public to take shelter inside fully enclosed buildings or hard‑topped vehicles whenever thunder is heard, and to avoid open areas, beaches, bodies of water, tall trees, utility poles and metal fences for at least 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder. People were urged to monitor official weather updates and check on family and neighbours as the unsettled conditions are expected to persist while the wave moves across the country.
