Antigua and Barbuda receives 20 Geely electric vehicles for CHOGM 2026

The government of Antigua and Barbuda has formally received 20 Zeekr 7X electric vehicles to serve as official transportation for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The vehicles were provided through a sponsorship arrangement with the Chinese automotive company Geely Motors.

The fleet arrived at St. John’s Harbour on November 1, 2026, and was officially handed over on November 2 at Camp Blizzard. The ceremony included Foreign Affairs, Trade and Immigration Minister E. P. Chet Greene, Chinese Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda Jiang Wei, and Geely Motors Marketing Representative Bao Huanke.

Minister Greene expressed hope that the partnership would encourage wider electric-vehicle use in the country beyond the summit. Ambassador Jiang noted that China has previously supported Antigua and Barbuda for events such as the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4).
