Antigua and Barbuda sees record tourism growth ahead of CHOGM 2026

Antigua and Barbuda reported a 6.7‑7% rise in stay‑over arrivals in the first quarter of 2026, with total visitors reaching 110,832 compared with 103,843 a year earlier. The United Kingdom contributed a 14% increase in arrivals, while the United States remained the largest source market at 46% of visitors.

The Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026, held in St John’s for the second consecutive year, showcased major infrastructure projects, including a $30 million cruise terminal expected to boost cruise arrivals by about 22%, expansions at V. C. Bird International Airport and the new Burton‑Nibbs International Airport, and upcoming hotel developments such as the Moon Gate Hotel & Spa and Nobu Beach Inn. Sustainable tourism initiatives, such as the Redonda island restoration project, were also highlighted.

These developments are positioned to support the nation’s hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November 2026, further raising Antigua and Barbuda’s international profile as a tourism, aviation, and conference hub.
