Antigua and Barbuda Senator calls for community action on child protection

Senator Angelica O’Donoghue is calling for sustained community involvement in child protection efforts across Antigua and Barbuda. Following a National Child Protection Town Hall meeting hosted by the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, the Senator emphasized that addressing child abuse requires confronting uncomfortable realities rather than remaining silent.

The town hall meetings brought together residents, professionals, and various stakeholders to discuss child safety and protection measures. O’Donoghue noted that the responsibility for safeguarding children extends beyond government agencies and law enforcement to include parents, teachers, churches, and community leaders.

As the series of town hall meetings continues throughout the country, the Senator is encouraging citizens to participate, raise concerns, and offer practical recommendations to help shape effective child protection strategies.
