Antigua approves waste management contract and UIA-AAA ratifies labor agreement
The Antigua City Council has unanimously approved a new contract for waste transport and the cleaning of public spaces. Mayor Juan Cabrera announced that the contract was awarded to a joint venture consisting of FCC Equal CEE Canarias S.L.U, FCC Medio Ambiente S.A.U, and Capross 2004 SL.
The new service agreement includes several improvements, such as the installation of 100 additional containers, increased collection frequencies in Caleta de Fuste during morning and night shifts, environmental awareness campaigns, and the deployment of new vehicles and additional personnel.
Separately, the membership of the Unión Independiente Auténtica de Empleados de la Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (UIA-AAA) has nearly unanimously ratified agreements with the Administration of the Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) regarding a new Classification and Retribution Plan (PCR).
The ratified agreements include maintaining a retroactive salary adjustment effective from October 23, 2025. The process now moves to the AAA Governing Board and subsequently to the Fiscal Oversight Board for final approval and implementation.
