Anti‑Inflammatory Diet Recommendations to Prevent Chronic Disease and Boost Brain Health

A diet focused on anti‑inflammatory foods aims to lower inflammation and reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, arthritis and cardiovascular disease. Recommended items include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy fats from olive oil, nuts, seeds and avocado, fatty fish rich in omega‑3 fatty acids (e.g., salmon, mackerel, tuna), and spices such as ginger, turmeric and garlic. These foods provide antioxidants, omega‑3s, fiber and other nutrients that support immune function, weight control and overall health.

Nutrition that emphasizes fresh, minimally processed foods also benefits brain health and memory. The gut‑brain axis links intestinal microbiota, which produce a large share of the body’s serotonin, to cognitive and mood regulation. Nutrients with strong scientific support—omega‑3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and B‑vitamins (especially B12 and folate)—help protect neurons from oxidative stress and support neurotransmitter synthesis. Diet patterns such as the Mediterranean diet and the MIND diet, which combine these elements, are associated with better cognitive performance and a lower risk of age‑related cognitive decline.
