Antik Mendirek archaeological site reopens in Tuzla

The Antik Mendirek, a 2,000-year-old archaeological site located in Tuzla, has been officially opened to the public following extensive renovation and landscaping works. The project aimed to preserve the historical texture of the site while transforming it into a functional social space.

Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl stated that the municipality focused on making the area accessible and useful for families and youth. Key improvements included closing Cafer Bey Street to vehicle traffic to create a flat walking path, developing green spaces, and installing rustic lighting designed to match the site's historical character. Additionally, the municipality converted previously paid parking areas into free parking by utilizing municipal lands.

The opening ceremony was attended by various officials, including AK Party Istanbul Deputy Yahya Çelik. The municipality also plans to offer free activities in the area, such as water sports training and pedal boat use, to ensure the coastal area is accessible to all citizens.
