Antimicrobial resistance addressed in Spain and Mexico

Discussions regarding antimicrobial resistance are gaining momentum through professional forums and academic publications. In Spain, the inaugural VET. GAN fair is scheduled for January 13-14, 2027, in Valladolid. This event, a collaboration between Feria de Valladolid and the Organización Colegial Veterinaria, will feature experts such as Cristina Muñoz Madero and Bruno González-Zorn to discuss the ‘One Health’ strategic framework, European regulations, and the prudent use of antibiotics in livestock production.

In Mexico, the book ‘Antimicrobial Resistance: A Horizontal Vision’ was recently presented. Edited by specialists including Irma Rosas Pérez, María Guadalupe Miranda Novales, Yolanda López Vidal, and Samuel Ponce de León Rosales, the work advocates for an integrated approach to the crisis. The authors emphasize that resistance must be understood beyond hospital settings, incorporating perspectives from environmental health, food production, water, soil, and ecosystems to address the potential return of previously manageable medical threats.
