Antioquia candidate proposes safeguarding regional security policies
Rodrigo Hernández, a gubernatorial candidate for Antioquia and former manager of VIVA Antioquia, has proposed safeguarding the region's security policies to ensure continuity for the next administration. He emphasized the need to maintain the current focus on authority, intelligence, and territorial presence led by Governor Andrés Julián Rendón.
Recent data from the Antioquia Secretariat of Security, Justice, and Peace indicates a 3.1% reduction in homicides as of June 1, 2026, compared to the previous year. Significant decreases were noted in Bajo Cauca (48.4%), Magdalena Medio (27.3%), and Valle de Aburrá (20.5%). Additionally, 23 municipalities reported zero homicides during the same period. To support these efforts, the administration has provided the Public Force with various resources, including 55 trucks, 178 motorcycles, and protective gear.
