Antioquia, Colombia launches upgraded BMX track and renovated sports plaza

The Medellín municipality inaugurated a new BMX track named after Olympic champion Mariana Pajón after 11 months of construction and an investment exceeding 5 billion Colombian pesos. The facility meets international standards, aims to host high‑performance competitions, and is expected to serve more than 2,000 users each month while having created 141 direct jobs during its build. The project is the first completed element of the larger Gran Parque Medellín development.

In the nearby town of Rionegro, the Los Remansos multi‑sport plaza was officially reopened under the "En la Juega por el Bienestar" program. The renovation, funded with roughly 1 billion pesos and carried out by the municipal sports institute in partnership with the Fundación Pintuco, upgraded the playing surface, installed new equipment, and improved safety and accessibility. The upgrade is the first of 14 plazas slated for refurbishment, intended to promote sport, recreation, and community cohesion.
