Antioquia dominates first day of Colombia's 2026 National Elite Track Cycling Championships

The opening day of the 2026 Campeonato Nacional de Pista Élite took place at the Velódromo Alcides Nieto Patiño in Cali, featuring team pursuit, team sprint and scratch races for men and women. Antioquia emerged as the standout region, winning four gold medals, a silver and a bronze, and leading the overall standings. The department also secured the women's team sprint title, highlighted by the return of Olympic champion Mariana Pajón, who competed a year and a half after becoming a mother.

Atlántico and Valle also claimed titles: Atlántico took gold in the men's team sprint and silver in the women's sprint, while Valle earned medals across several events, including a gold in the men's scratch. Boyacá, Bogotá and Santander rounded out the podium in various disciplines. The championship will continue on Friday with individual events such as the men's individual sprint, men's individual pursuit, women's omnium, women's kilometre and men's points race.
