Frontino: Antioquia authorities offer reward for girl's killer

The investigation into the death of 10-year-old Jhady Sofía Osorio Mesa in Frontino, Antioquia, has shifted from a suspected suicide to a homicide investigation. Forensic results from Medicina Legal revealed that the child was a victim of sexual violence and strangulation.

The incident occurred on September 23, 2026, at a farm in the Las Cabras district. While the scene was initially staged to simulate a self-inflicted death using a swing rope, investigators now believe the perpetrator altered the crime scene to mislead authorities.

The Governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, has announced a reward of up to 100 million pesos for information leading to the identification and capture of the responsible party. The Antioquia Secretariat for Women is providing legal and psychological support to the victim's family as the Fiscalía General de la Nación continues its investigation into the case, which is being treated as a feminicide involving sexual violence.
