Antisemitism concerns rise as UCEI warns of social acceptance

Livia Ottolenghi, president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI), has denounced the growing social and media acceptance of antisemitism. She attributes this trend to ignorance, bad faith, and prejudice, noting that hate speech is often presented through pseudo-intellectual reasoning or brutal terminology. Ottolenghi supports new legislation aimed at combating this climate, which she argues is being instrumentalized for political purposes related to Middle Eastern conflicts.

In a separate development, Rabbi Tzemach Mizrachi of the Chabad movement addressed a recent incident in Milan. Despite the tensions, Mizrachi stated he will not hide his religious identity or change his lifestyle, though he noted efforts to avoid dangerous situations. He criticized the systemic influence of narratives regarding Jews and Israel on public discourse.
