Antisemitism investigations target multiple U.S. school districts

Investigations into several American school districts have revealed widespread allegations of antisemitic harassment against Jewish students. In Arlington, Virginia, investigators concluded there was reasonable cause to believe Arlington Public Schools violated antidiscrimination laws and was “deliberately indifferent” to a hostile environment at Yorktown High School. Students there reported being chased, threatened, and subjected to Holocaust-related slurs and taunts.

Similar patterns of alleged antisemitism are being addressed across the United States. The U.S. Department of Education has opened investigations into Baltimore City Public Schools following reports of Nazi salutes and graffiti. Federal officials are also investigating schools in Bay County, Florida, and New York City.

Legal and regulatory actions have also occurred in other states, including a Justice Department settlement in Massachusetts regarding response procedures for harassment, and lawsuits or settlements involving schools in Connecticut and New Jersey.
