Antisemitism rises among Jewish students in UK and Canada

Reports from the United Kingdom and Canada indicate a significant rise in antisemitism affecting Jewish students in educational settings.

In the United Kingdom, the Community Security Trust (CST) recorded 178 antisemitic incidents in schools during the first half of 2026, marking a 59% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The incidents included physical assaults, verbal abuse, and the display of Nazi symbols. Some school administrators reported spending more time on security measures than on educational duties.

In Canada, a report commissioned by the Department of Canadian Heritage found that 95.7% of 900 interviewed students experienced some form of antisemitism. The study revealed that 68% of Jewish students do not feel their campuses are safe or inclusive, and 57% avoid displaying Jewish symbols due to safety concerns. Additionally, 22% of respondents reported experiencing some form of physical violence.
