Antisemitism rises in political and cultural discourse

Reports indicate a rise in antisemitic sentiment across politics, entertainment, and public discourse. In North Carolina, a Democratic legislative candidate reportedly shared photographs of herself smiling near crematorium ovens at the Dachau concentration camp while suggesting supporters of Donald Trump belong in concentration camps.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has also become a cultural flashpoint. At the New York Film Festival, protesters challenged the documentary ‘NAZA,’ arguing its depiction of Palestinian civilian deaths lacked context regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack. Additionally, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft barred rapper Macklemore from performing at Gillette Stadium, citing the artist’s history of antisemitic rhetoric and his perceived minimization of the October 7 massacre.
