Antisemitism rises in United States and Australia
Reports indicate a rise in antisemitic incidents across different regions. In San Jose, California, two Israeli Americans, Lior Zeevi and Daniel Levy, were physically assaulted by three men while waiting outside a restaurant. The suspects, identified as Bruneil Henry Chamaki, Roma Akoyans, and Ramon Akoyans, turned themselves in and face charges of assault and battery, though no hate crime charges have been filed. Additionally, an incident in Ramapo, New York, involved a U.S. Postal Service worker pushing a young Hasidic boy.
In Australia, discussions regarding the surge of antisemitism have emerged alongside government responses to security concerns. Following a terror attack at Bondi Beach in December 2025, the Albanese federal government and the Minns NSW government launched a significant gun buyback program. Critics have argued that political considerations regarding electoral mathematics have influenced how antisemitism and extremist activities are managed by political leadership.
