Antisemitism taskforce proposes national support gateway for students

A proposal is being considered by the Antisemitism Education Taskforce to establish a national gateway to provide Jewish students and families with a single point of contact for reporting incidents and seeking support. Taskforce chair David Gonski noted that individuals currently struggle to identify the correct authorities or organizations to assist them when facing antisemitism.

In Canada, a federal government report revealed that 95.7 per cent of Jewish post-secondary students experienced antisemitism last year. Critics, including Daniel Koren of Allied Voices for Israel, have described the issue as a systemic problem within universities, arguing that state-sponsored institutions are failing to check rising hate. There are calls for governments to re-evaluate federal and provincial grants to post-secondary schools in light of these findings.
