Antmicro Unveils Open‑Source Thunderbolt to Dual 10 GbE Adapter

Antmicro announced the release of an open‑source hardware adapter that converts a Thunderbolt 3 connection into two 10‑gigabit Ethernet ports. The design, provided in full KiCad project files under the Apache 2.0 licence, uses Intel’s JHL6340 Thunderbolt controller and an Intel X710‑AT2 Ethernet controller to deliver PCIe Gen3 x4 bandwidth. The board measures 110 × 70 mm, includes passive cooling with a heatsink and fan connector, and draws under 9 W of power. In testing, a single port achieved 9.4 Gbps full‑duplex throughput, while both ports together sustained 5.5 Gbps each. All schematics, PCB layouts and documentation are publicly available for developers to study, modify, and manufacture, extending Antmicro’s open‑hardware portfolio for use in smart terminals, IoT gateways, and other high‑speed networking applications.
