António José Seguro defines modern sovereignty through technology and cohesion
During the Municipality Day of Batalha, President António José Seguro argued that national sovereignty in the 21st century is built through self-knowledge and community involvement rather than isolation. He emphasized that being independent in a globalized world means having the capacity to choose and protect national interests.
Seguro stated that Portugal must not merely be a consumer of foreign technology but must develop its own expertise. He noted that sovereignty is now constructed in laboratories, universities, companies, and innovation centers, utilizing artificial intelligence to serve the people.
Furthermore, the President called for greater territorial cohesion, asserting that true independence requires a country where young people can study, work, and start families in any region, preventing the concentration of opportunities from forcing new generations to abandon their home territories.
