António Madeira wine receives historic 100 points from James Suckling

The Portuguese wine ‘António Madeira Os Granitos 2023’ has achieved a historic milestone by receiving a perfect score of 100 points from influential international critic James Suckling. This marks the first time a non-fortified Portuguese wine has received this maximum distinction.

Produced in the Serra da Estrela sub-region of the Dão, the wine is crafted using biodynamic methods and focuses on the expression of terroir. The production utilizes old vines, aged between 50 and 120 years, situated at altitudes of 450 to 600 meters. These conditions, combined with granitic soils, contribute to the wine's characteristic freshness and acidity.

Manuel Pinheiro, president of the Comissão Vitivinícola Regional (CVR) do Dão, stated that this recognition affirms the quality and international potential of the region, elevating the Dão to a global level of excellence.
