Antofagasta artisanal fishing sector meets to discuss recovery

Authorities and local representatives met in Caleta Coloso, Antofagasta, to address the challenges facing the artisanal fishing sector. The meeting was led by Biminister of Economy, Development and Tourism and Mining, Daniel Mas, alongside representatives from INDESPA and SERNAPESCA.

The discussion focused on identifying community concerns and exploring support mechanisms to facilitate recovery and sustainability, particularly in response to the climate emergency impacting the region. Local organizations, including the Coloso Union, the Women's Union, and the AGREUMAR Guild Association, presented their specific needs and challenges.

The event also served as a platform for dialogue between the fishing sector and the private sector, represented by the company Escondida | BHP, aiming to foster integral development for the coastal communities of southern Antofagasta.
