Antofagasta authorities implement new security strategies
In Antofagasta, Chile, regional authorities are implementing new strategies to address rising security concerns among local families. The government is focusing on a coordinated response that accounts for the region's specific characteristics, including its border status, port activity, and mining industry.
As part of the Agenda against Organized Crime and Terrorism (ACOT) promoted by the government of President José Antonio Kast, new tools are being provided to strengthen police forces, improve border control, and track assets derived from criminal activity.
To complement these legal measures, the General Secretariat of Government is launching the “Recuperemos nuestros Barrios” (Recover our Neighborhoods) citizen security dialogues. This initiative aims to bring the ACOT agenda closer to local communities and facilitate direct communication between government officials and neighborhood leaders to address crime and the recovery of public spaces.
