Antofagasta Regional Council approves transport subsidies

The Antofagasta Regional Council (CORE) has approved 200 million pesos for the ‘Renueva tu Colectivo 2026’ program. This initiative aims to provide subsidies for the renewal of small public transport vehicles across the region.

A total of 54 transporters will benefit from the funds. The allocation includes 15 drivers in Calama with 57 million pesos, 31 in Antofagasta with 109 million pesos, and 8 in Tocopilla with 34 million pesos. Interested owners must apply through the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Selection criteria include the age of the vehicle being replaced and the incorporation of electric or hybrid models to improve service quality and reduce emissions.

Since its inception, the program has facilitated the renewal of 1,888 vehicles through cumulative subsidies totaling 4.4 billion pesos.
