Antoine Griezmann joins Orlando City, targets MLS title and Leagues Cup against Mexican clubs
French striker Antoine Griezmann signed with MLS side Orlando City after leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the 2025‑26 season. He is set to make his debut on 22 July against the San Jose Earthquakes and said he wants to win the MLS championship, score goals, provide assists and grow the club’s fan base.
Griezmann praised the rising quality of the league, noting the presence of other star players such as Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi and Son Heung‑min. He added that he is motivated to compete and help Orlando City become a top team in United States football.
In the 2026 Leagues Cup, Orlando City will face Mexican clubs Rayados de Monterrey, Club León and Atlético San Luis, with all matches scheduled in the United States. Griezmann described playing against Mexican teams as an honor and expressed excitement for the intense atmosphere they will bring.
