Antoinette Jadaone launches Ilaya Ilaya film studio
Filmmaker Antoinette Jadaone has launched a new production studio, Ilaya Ilaya, alongside longtime collaborator and producer Reign Anne De Guzman. The studio is designed to champion women-led stories in Philippine cinema and support filmmakers and genres that often struggle to find support outside traditional studio systems and festival funding.
Several projects are already in development. These include the found-footage horror film ‘Birdsong’, directed by Pam Miras and written by Glenn Barit, and the supernatural comedy ‘Chandra Catacutan and the Curse of the Fuchsia Moon’, starring Eugene Domingo. Jadaone will also direct ‘Boldstar’, featuring Angelica Panganiban.
In addition to film, the studio plans to adapt Jadaone’s recent film ‘Sunshine’ into a stage play directed by Mikko Angeles, with Maris Racal reprising her role. The company also intends to expand into television, with Jadaone set to showrun an untitled romantic comedy series for Netflix Philippines.
